Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing the database infrastructures used across various company projects, ensuring their continuity, and optimizing their performance. The candidate is expected to actively work primarily on Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL database environments, and preferably also provide support for Microsoft SQL Server platforms. The core responsibilities of the position include configuring database systems in accordance with security, scalability, and high availability principles, performing performance and capacity management activities, managing backup and disaster recovery processes, and ensuring uninterrupted operational continuity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, and version update processes of all database systems used within the organization, primarily Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, including MySQL and MSSQL.
- Monitor and improve databases in terms of performance, availability, and security.
- Manage backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery (DR) processes.
- Perform query optimization, index management, and resource usage analysis.
- Collaborate with application teams to work on database architecture, schema design, and data models.
- Implement authorization, user management, and security policies.
- Plan and execute database updates, patches, and version migrations.
- Proactively identify system issues, provide solutions, and perform root cause analysis.
- Document operational processes required for business continuity and keep them regularly updated.
- Use monitoring tools to provide regular reporting and notify relevant teams of situations requiring immediate action.
General Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of active experience in production environments with at least a few of the following databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, MSSQL.
- Experienced in database performance analysis, optimization, index management, and query tuning.
- Knowledgeable in backup, restore, replication, and high availability (HA) solutions.
- Experience working on Linux systems.
- Basic knowledge of automation/scripting using Shell scripting or Python.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge and experience in the Oracle ecosystem (ODI, OAS, Oracle Middleware – WebLogic, UCM, BI Publisher, OSB, etc.) is not mandatory but considered a strong plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and technical documentation skills.
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Eager to follow and learn new technologies.
- Graduate of a 4-year university degree program.
- Strong analytical thinking and reasoning skills.
- Strong representation, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, no restrictions for intercity travel and accommodation.
- Residing in Ankara or willing to relocate to Ankara.
